Motivational Monday + Our fun morning at Wizard World!

Our first week of challenge was great. We stuck to our goals, and both lost some weight. I am down 2.6lbs, and Tammy is down 0.9lbs, which means I’M WINNING!! I’m looking forward to dropping my kids off at her house for the day next month ūüėČ

We are looking forward to another week of it, though I’m sure with two decent losses for me, she will probably do better when we weigh-in next Monday. And while I may be taking her down when it comes to weight-loss, she took me today today Jousting while we visited Wizard World!

We had SO much fun this morning at Wizard World in Hamilton. The bouncy castles, the rides, magic show and of course at the Petting Zoo. I even got to pet an OWL (that is something I’ve always wanted to do!) If your in Hamilton, it’s happening all week long for March Break at the Careport Centre. The kids will love it, and you will have a lot of fun too. Check out their website for more information, and see all our fun photos below! We really had a blast ūüôā

What would you do witn $50,000??? #GoldenKitten

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat thinking and dreaming about what I would do if a large amount of money suddenly fell in my lap. I’ve probably lost far too many productive work hours doing so. What can I say, I’ve always been a bit of a daydreamer.

Royale is celebrating their 50th anniversary with a prize that made me start daydreaming again Р$50,000. Find a Golden Kitten Ticket and you could be a winner! Not only is there the grand prize of $50,000, but runner up cash prizes, and over $50,000 in instant prizes to be won, including:  Samsung TVs, Tablets, Blu-ray Players, SpaFinder gift cards and Limited Edition plush ROYALE Kittens!

440 Golden Kitten Tickets are hidden inside specially marked Royale bathroom tissue, facial tissue, paper towel and dinner napkins. 60 tickets are located online through or the Royal Kittens Facebook Page and you can play daily!

So what would I do if I won $50,000? Let’s start with what I would LIKE to do if I won:

First, I would buy my Ford Escape. Ever since I drove one to Florida last year I’ve been dreaming about getting one. Fingers crossed either way I will get one soon… less than a year until my car is paid off!

Ford Escape Titanium Front

Second, I would put some money towards a new studio for my belly casting. I LOVE the store I’m in now, and I adore my little studio space, but I dream about having a large space. One with a really comfortable set up, and a shower for moms to clean off in after. No more washing them down with¬†washcloths¬†and sending them home to shower. No more having two¬†separate¬†work spaces, one there, and the other being my basement which doubles as my laundry room and kids playroom. I dream that one day I will be this busy, have staff, and this sort of set up:

Third, if I had anything left over, I would take a vacation. Somewhere warm. Somewhere like St. Lucia, the only tropical place I’ve ever been. I just can’t see anything beating it.

Now what would I really do if I won $50,000?

First, I would start fixing up my house and get it ready to sell. I bought it in a so/so area when I was only 21. Been here almost 10 years now, and still have a LOT to do. Then I would pay off any debt, list the house and hopefully put a large¬†down payment¬†on a forever home. Maybe something with a wrap around porch. And granite counter tops in the kitchen. And more than one bathroom…. and here I go daydreaming again…..

I polled my Facebook fans and I’m not alone in what I would really do with the money. It seems like most people would do the responsible thing – put it towards debt, mortgages, charities and saving for their children’s educations. I think that means I have some pretty smart, pretty awesome followers. Even if that’s not what they WISH they could do with the money!!

A Fresher & Younger You in 2013 with Olay #Giveaway valued at $140 #PGmom (Canada Only)

I’ve never been good with taking care of my skin, I didn’t think I needed to. My skin was perfect. Blemish free, toned, smooth and with no work at all – and then I turned 30. It’s like a small army of blemishes, dark spots and even small wrinkles (WRINKLES? ALREADY!?) were just waiting to pop out. I’ve been struggling with a skin care solution ever since! While I am still battling the war on my adult acne, I’ve found help for my skin using this line from Oil of Olay that I¬†received¬†for being a P&G Mom!

My absolute favorites from the set are the Olay Total Effects Daily Anti-Aging UV Moisturizer Plus Touch of Foundation Cream and the Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Aging Eye Cream Line and Dark Circle Minimizing Brush.

I love the Anti-Aging UV Moisturizer Plus Touch of Foundation Cream¬†because it’s a lighter alternative to my other heavier makeup I use to try and cover up my acne. It fills in the creases, and gives a a light coverage without looking like I am TRYING to cover something. While it goes on a little thick, once it dries it’s very light and natural.

The¬†7-in-1 Anti-Aging Eye Cream Line and Dark Circle Minimizing Brush¬†is the pefect addition to my morning makeup routine. I’ve always struggled with really dark circles (something I hope to help by using the¬†Tone Correcting Eye Treatment¬†more), and the cream helps cover those dark circles blending right in with whatever makeup I’m wearing that day. I know that other than just covering the circles, it’s also¬†moisturizing¬†as well.

Olay Total Effects GiveawayOlay Total Effects Daily Anti-Aging UV Moisturizer Plus Touch of Foundation Cream provides seven anti-aging benefits including line appearance minimization, nourishing moisturization, subtle appearance firming, brightening, gentle exfoliation, pore appearance refinement and anti-oxidants.  It helps renew, restore and protect from UV rays for aging skin with the added benefit of a sheer foundation for immediate tone improvement.

Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Aging Eye Cream Line and Dark Circle Minimizing Brush helps to instantly reduce the appearance of darkness under the eye all in one sweep of a brush.  It contains a daily under-eye moisturizer that hydrates to firm skin’s appearance and minimizes the look of fine lines and a hint of tint instantly reduces the appearance of dark circles.

Olay Total Effects Refreshing Citrus Scrub offers an invigorating scrub that cleanses your skin without over-drying.  Formulated with oil-absorbing beads, it gently exfoliates and cleanses thoroughly while the citrus-kissed formula refreshed your skin.

Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting Night Moisturizer provides deep hydration and helps fight signs of aging with a vitamin-rich complex designed to smooth away the appearance of discolouration and age spots as you sleep.

Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting Eye Treatment treats the sensitive and delicate skin under the eye that needs to be treated with TLC.  This treatment diminishes the look of under-eye darkness and helps to fight seven signs of aging.

I’m so excited that one of my lucky Canadian readers will have the chance to win the five Olay Total Effects products¬†outlined above (valued at over $140*) to help you¬†achieve beautiful, healthier looking skin. Here is how to enter:¬†

Featured Friday – Fingerprint Necklace from Wee Piggies and Paws

..I love your fingers, and toes

your ears, and nose… I love you through and through.

One of my favorite books I read my son since he was a baby is “I love you through and through”. Each and every time I would read the “I love your fingers” line, I would plant a kiss on his fingertips, and he would smile. When I learned that I could capture those little fingerprints forever, I knew I had to.

From ornaments, to hand and feet life casts displayed in beautiful shadow boxes, Wee Piggies and Paws has been capturing memories for years. I even had both of my boys first shoes¬†bronzed¬†through Hamilton Wee Piggies and Paws –¬†some days¬†I just love to hold them in my hands, and remember how small they once were. Especially those days. If your a mom, you know what I am talking about.

These new fingerprint necklaces are so special. Capturing the little imprints forever in sterling silver to wear around your neck. I often find my own fingers finding and holding them, and I feel odd without it on now. You can get them with just the fingerprint, or add initials, names and birth stones. There is also an option of having it made as a dog tag.

The process is simple, you book your appointment with your Participating Wee Piggies and Paws location, and they press your child’s finger or toe into a mold and that’s it. Quick, simple, painless. Within a couple of weeks you will get your beautiful necklace back, and never want to take it off.

To find your local Wee Piggies and Paws location, visit their website here. I would really recommend these necklaces for anyone – mom, dad (maybe the dog tags?), and it would make a wonderful grandparent gift as well. Something you can cherish forever.

This necklace was provided for review. No compensation was received. The honest opinions are my own . I really, really love this necklace.

2013 Ford Escape Titanium Review

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog, you know that we had the¬†opportunity¬†to get behind the wheel of a new 2013 Ford Escape Titanium for our Florida (#FloridaFunshine) family road trip. I am so excited to finally be able to sit down and share our experience with you. Let’s just say, it was one impressive drive!

First off, I love the new design. Before I didn’t really have the desire to drive on Escape, I didn’t find the old look appealing. When I was first invited out to check out the newest model I was expecting the same, but boy was I wrong. And while I already knew how the Escape handled from our Escape for the Day event with Ford, I didn’t know how it would work as a family vehicle – a family vehicle on a 21 hour road trip. Let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint.

Comfortable and Roomy

The size of the Escape was perfect for our family. The trunk was big enough to fit everything we needed – 2¬†over-sized¬†suitcases, our extra bags, backpacks, children’s duffle bag, a stroller and MORE. And if we wanted to pack even more than we did, we had the option of putting a roof bag on top using the crossbars. I found myself very comfortable in the Drivers seat, and while the passenger seat didn’t have quite as much room as the Expolrer did, it was still comfortable enough to sit in for the long drive. There had been points during our trip where we pushed the two children together and had an adult in the back with them – the leg room was more than I thought it would be, and without car seats it would actually be quite comfortable for adults too.

I liked that I felt a little closer to my kids than I do in my current Mini-van. It was much easier to reach back and grab their hand if they needed a bit of comfort, or pass them snacks when they were hungry.

Drive and Fuel Economy

The Escape is an exceptionally smooth drive Рand quiet! . It also had more power than we were used to, it was amazing how fast it would get up to speed helping us merge onto busy highways with ease. The curve control made driving through the mountains with all their twists and turns a breeze.

Along with power, the EcoBoost engine brings great gas mileage. We drove almost 1,900kms on our trip, and didn’t pay anywhere near as much in gas that we would have in either vehicle we have now.

As an extra bonus, there is even a feature to show you if your driving is getting you the most out of your fuel. I am proud to say that I was a Ford EcoMode Advanced Driver!

Features, Features, Features

The Escape Titanium came packed full of great features. Some that I already know and love like the Blind Spot Indicator on the side mirrors, the back up camera and the Ford MyTouch. I loved how accessible everything was on the steering wheel. Easily being able to set, cancel and resume with a simple push of the paddle for the cruise control was perfect.

¬†I loved that with a tap on the right side paddle I could bring up the voice commands and simply change the channels on the¬†Sirius¬†Satellite Radio (something I could get used to!). Between my husband and I wanting to listen to some good old 80’s and 90’s tunes, and the 4 year old constantly asking for the Disney Station, there was a lot of¬†changing¬†going on. We also loved how easy it was to plug in a device and play your music through the USB and Ford Sync option.

The Dual Climate Control was a huge plus for me. I am always so cold, and my husband hot. There have been many battles in the past as for who gets to choose the temperature – this helped us both get our way. I also took full advantage of the heated seats, something that is a must in my next vehicle.

And then there was the Panoramic sunroof. I love how much natural light it brought in during our trip, something that was really needed as we drove unwillingly back into the colder climates. I truly believe that a little sun can help brighten a bad mood any day.

And now for my favorite feature of all – the Hands-Free Liftgate. Best. Idea. EVER. I can’t even tell you how many times this came in handy. As long as the keys are on you (In your pocket or purse let’s say), and your right behind the¬†vehicle¬† all you need to do to open the Liftgate is give a swift little kick under the back bumper. Easy as Pie (Mmmmmm pie….).

Here is a little video we took with me using it after a shopping trip:

These are just some of the features that we loved. Another was the Active Park Assist which I only got to use once. Sadly where we were in Florida there seemed to be no where to¬†parallel¬†park (I don’t think I would have ever complained of a lack of¬†parallel¬†parking spots).

Because I always do my best to be¬†honest¬† there was a couple of things that we didn’t love about the Escape. Sometimes the voice commands were a little tricky to use. This may be because I don’t know the proper things to say, but trying to choose a destination using this feature was a little tricky. And while I believe it is a great idea to have some items on the MyFord Touch not available when the driver is in motion to keep them focused on the road, it should take into account when the¬†passenger¬†is the one trying to use it. The one other thing that I would love to see changed is the seat belts in the back. They were very hard to access when we had the Booster seat in place. H was unable to do it himself, and we had to tilt his seat a little to be able to buckle him up.

All in all I loved the 2013 Ford Escape Titanium. I loved it enough to say that I strongly believe when it comes time for me to get a new¬†vehicle¬† this is it. It was the perfect size for our family – not too big, and not too small. We loved the drive, the fuel¬†economy, and all the great features listed above. I would highly recommend the Escape to any family looking for a great crossover. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of one for keeps someday!

The vehicle was provided for review. No compensation was received. The honest opinions are my own and those of my family.
