I’ve mentioned it before, but I will say it again, I am SO excited to have That Mom Tammy as a part of the blog now. We will be making some changes to the look and feel of it soon, but thought we would start with a huge double giveaway! There are TWO prizes to be won here!
When I received my latest products from Proctor and Gamble I knew that some of it would be perfect for my hair, and some of it for hers. I’m the one with the over dyed, dried out but really fun blue hair, and Tammy has those tight curls I’ve always lusted after. Of course, we both run into our hair issues, and were happy to try some new products to see how they would work for us.
Below you will find information about these products, why they are so awesome at combating some major hair and skin issues, and also what we thought about them. All I can say is that we’ve both been rocking some pretty awesome hair the past couple of weeks!
As much as we love the beauty of a fresh dusting of snow, Canadian winters can be unforgiving. In addition to battling the snow and chilly wind, the subzero temperatures, layers of warm clothes and dry furnace air can leave our skin feeling dry and itchy and our tresses in a tizzy.
The Cause: Blow-drying and heat-styling tools can contribute to more breakage during the winter. Blistery snowy weather also tends to wet and freeze hair in the cold leading to additional breakage.
The Solution: To help avoid winter breakage, it’s important to get regular trims every eight weeks. Split ends split upwards, so the less one trims, the more breakage they will experience. It’s also important to practice a good at-home daily hair routine in between cuts to avoid breakage and keep hair moisturized. Protect hair against damage from the cold outdoors and styling heat by applying a moisturizing mist that’s designed for daily use.
Products to Try: Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Moisture Mist (ARV $5.99 each) strengthens dry fragile hair against damage and preps it for styling. Try the Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal line (Shampoo, Conditioner and Silky Moisture Whip) for added damage control.
The Cause: Dry furnace air, wind burn and warm clothing can lead to dry, flaky and itchy skin. The Solution: In the winter months you should moisturize at least once a day (more if you’re prone to dry, flaky skin). Look for moisturizers with petrolatum or mineral oil to prevent evaporation and water loss from the skin.Products to Try: For an immediate burst of moisture, try Olay Ultra Moisture Lotion (ARV $10.99). This lotion contains petrolatum, which replenishes and nourishes skin’s moisture barrier to break the cycle of dry skin. In one week, your skin will feel noticeably soft.
Kinky, Curly, Wavy & Unruly FrizzThe Cause: Some hair types, like curly and coarse tresses, are just naturally prone to frizz, but more often than not, frizz is a sign of damaged hair. The combination of outdoor air and indoor heating can do a number on your strands, causing frizz, fly-aways and dryness. The Solution: Moisture. Start by using a shampoo and conditioner designed to fight frizz. Don’t be afraid to skip washing daily – it’s unnecessary and hard on hair. Try to air-dry your hair when possible to help reduce split ends from heat damage. And always use heat-protecting products before heat-styling to help protect your hair from high temperatures and unnecessary breakage.Products to Try: Herbal Essences None of your Frizzness Shampoo and Conditioner‘s serum-infused formula moisturizes hair with the right amount of conditioning ingredients for lusciously soft and shiny hair. (ARV $4.49 each)

Do your locks long for the next visit to the salon? Not because their ends are a little split or colour is fading, but because they want to be spoiled—to be lathered and styled with thick, creamy and fabulously scented products that only hair dressers seem to possess? Now you can end your locks’ yearning! Fifty years after Vidal Sassoon transformed how women wear and care for their hair, P&G Beauty & Grooming is making salon genius available to all with the NEW Vidal Sassoon Pro Series colour, care and styling line. Perfected by experts, the collections offer quality products for creating effortlessly beautiful, real life styles at home at a price that doesn’t break the bank.
To introduce Canadians to the Vidal Sassoon Pro Series, P&G shares a few of its favourite products and tips from the experts.
Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Moisture Lock Shampoo aids in conditioning the cuticle while hair is in its wet shampoo state to make styling after washing easier.
Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Moisture Lock Conditioner helps to seal in moisture and prevent dry or damaged-looking hair, leaving it noticeably smooth and irresistible to the touch.
Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse was created after learning that consumers want touchable volume that will last and won’t weigh hair down. It uses an exclusive foam technology that helps control unruly hair while providing up to 24 hours of flexible hold and volume that is easy to comb out.
TIPS FROM SASSOON STYLISTS: Hold product upright to pump out a tennis ball size amount into your palm then evenly knead into towel dried hair. Blow-dry or let dry naturally and freshen-up your style throughout the day by applying a small amount to dry hair.
Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Repair & Finish Spray helps seal in style and tame flyaways with Glycerin that significantly helps reduce friction and mechanical damage caused when combing or brushing hair.
TIPS FROM SASSOON STYLISTS: Spray 6-8 inches away from towel dried hair, dry and freshen later.
Vidal Sassoon The Mega Firm Hold Gel uses a professionally inspired formula offering a customizable and strong hold that helps lock out style-stealing frizz for up to 24 hours.
Why I like these products: I have really curly hair and it’s very hard to find a good shampoo and conditioner that doesn’t dry it out. I was very impressed with how soft and moisturized my hair has been since using these products. The frizz has been cut down compared to my previous shampoo and conditioners. It’s also very hard for me to find the right curly hair product cocktail – if you have curly hair you know what I mean. The Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse and the Mega Firm Hold Gels keep my hair in a firm hold for the day. My favorite product of the bunch is the moisture renewal mist which is the perfect finish of my curly locks.
